How can I see if a dealer lowered the price of a used car?

Check the listing's recorded asking-price history for a decrease. A vehicle's OAV page shows price history when OAV has recorded at least one qualifying asking-price change for the current listing at its current dealer in the last 90 days.

What price history shows

Price history is the record of qualifying asking-price changes OAV has observed for the current listing at its current dealer during the last 90 days. It shows recorded increases and decreases and their amounts.

Small fluctuations are filtered out, and changes from before the vehicle moved to its current dealer are not included. The history is not a complete record of every price the vehicle has ever been advertised at.

What it can and cannot tell you

The history shows changes OAV recorded in the listing's asking price, with the dates and amounts shown on the vehicle page. It does not establish the exact moment the dealer changed the price, explain why it changed, predict the sale price, or establish whether the current asking price is a good one.

A price drop is not a deal by itself. OAV's Price-to-Market verdict compares the current asking price with comparable listings; price history is not an input to the verdict.

Price drops and below-market pricing

A recent price drop and a below-market price are different questions. Open the vehicle's OAV page to check the available evidence: price history appears only when OAV has recorded a qualifying change for the current listing at its current dealer in the last 90 days. The Price-to-Market section shows a verdict and comparable range only when the evidence supports one; otherwise it shows Unscored with a reason.

OAV does not currently sort or filter search results by price drop. Market pages and collections do not show price history; only vehicle pages do.

Where to look

Use the VIN price check to look for a dealer-listed vehicle OAV holds. Read the Price-to-Market methodology to understand how OAV evaluates the current asking price separately from its history.

Questions about used-car price history

Why don't I see a price history for a car?

OAV shows price history only when it has recorded a qualifying change for the current listing at its current dealer in the last 90 days. An absent history section does not establish that the asking price has never changed.

Does a price drop mean it's a good deal?

No. A drop does not establish whether the current asking price is low against comparable listings. OAV publishes a Price-to-Market verdict only when the evidence supports one, using the current asking price rather than how it got there.

How far back does it go?

It covers the last 90 days for the current listing at its current dealer. Changes from before a dealer change are not included, and small fluctuations are filtered out.

Can I filter used cars by price drop?

OAV does not currently sort or filter search results by price drop. Open a vehicle page to check whether qualifying price history is available.
